Not mentioned in the text: all the relays in the engine bay, the overdrive pilot light and the really thorough detailing in the engine bay. Regrettably the thoughtful, well-executed improvements would doom this car in concours judging, but I care a lot more about the improvements than concours competitions anyway. \r\n\r\nYou can criticize this car because it\u2019s not a metal-dash chrome-bumper car, but these 77-80 MGBs are so smooth, so comfortable on the road, you have to judge them by the criteria they were intended to meet. By 1980, entry-level new sports cars comparable to an early \u201860s MGB could not be legally built and imported to the US. But give the boys at Abingdon credit for doing a yeoman job producing a civilized, safe car that was still a real ball to drive. And this particular car is one of the best examples I\u2019ve seen. Distributer was restored and set up by distributor guru Jeff Schlemmer of Advanced Distributers. 5) New high output alternator installed. 6) New radiator installed. 7) New front suspension bushings and rear leaf spring bushings installed. Ill-fitting (too thick) weatherstripping will place pressure on the frame when you close the door and make it want to bend away from the door frame. Of course more invasive tactics would be to drill a small hole at the end of the crack, and then patch & repaint.
