Meaning there were issues mechanically. Keep in mind BMW got involved \ud83e\udd23 and the entire engine was control by the dark lord Lucas and it\u2019s ECU. Although it took a few years to hone its power. It\u2019s now considered one of the great go to Diesels. And if one spends any time on the gram. There are some wicked hyper tuned TD5\u2019s that are incredible. Yes you will have those gremlins. Think p38 and a D2 hooking up. But power wise faster. It will be years before we see the later TD5\u2019s start to legally come in. With these 300\u2019s it much easier/simpler. And a few more people in the states have worked on 300\u2019s. A Tdi loves the highway, ALL diesels do, and the 300 is no different. This doesn't have A/C, as your cradle is waiting with open arms to install. I picked this defender for my personal use after owning a 1988 and 1992 and definitely the 300tdi was the best by fart. My defender group in Italy had a few TD5s and they need some specialized work due to the electronics.
