IMO, the advantages of the 997TT are: 1) the steering wheel is thicker and leather covered (the 996TT is hard narrow plastic (it could be changed of course), 2) the 997TT his a more luxurious interior and other more \"modern\" features, like storing seat and mirror settings on different keys, 3) the 997TT seems more solid when driving (I suspect I am feeling suspension improvements between the two series). I have owned 86, 88, and 97 Carreras and the interior of the 996TT is more minimalist, like the older models. Both cars are true driver's cars. They are great fun but they deserve your respect. That probably doesn't do service to your question. My 03 Turbo is definitely leather and it feels about the same thickness as my 08 Turbo. The 996 Turbo comes with quite a bit more leather covered bits than a standard 996.\r\n\r\nI love them both and it\u2019d be impossible to choose which is better (similar to choosing between my 2 kids, lol, just can\u2019t do it). They are both fantastic. 996 Turbo is definitely more minimalistic and I agree the 997 Turbo is a bit more refined but I personally don\u2019t think it\u2019s better (or worse) just a bit different. If you want a more traditional turbo response its 996 Turbo but if you want that almost non-existent lag the VTG in 997 Turbo takes care of that. Cockpit in 996 feels more intimate to me while 997 feels more roomy.
