This version of the dash with the rocker switches which you usually see on the third generation dash gracing a second generation dash is specific to 1969. The mix of euro and us spec lights is also an oddity as @PWSchuch points out. The side view mirrors and antenna are not usual either. The antenna is usually mounted on the roof and the mirrors don't have an elbow in the arm like these do. I have heard DS owners say that their antennas were fender mounted as new but I don't see it often.\r\n\r\nIt is nice to see that it is still the original red fluid and hasn't had the headlights eurified. For a while it seemed the thing to do with the green fluid not attracting moisture and the swiveling headlights being as cool as they are. As a result these days to find one that hasn't had that done is a bit of a rarity. I have heard that the red fluid is even plusher than the green fluid ride which is amazing. The citromatic shifting is oh so nice too. I've heard people say it is problematic but that has not been my experience.\r\n\r\nThis one looks like it needs just some relatively superficial tweaks to get it looking just right (if one were inclined). It is really quite easy and can be done with the fingertips from the top of the steering wheel. Stop in any gear at a light then shift to first when it is time to go again. In creeping traffic you can leave it in first and it will creep along without any application of the gas if it is adjusted properly.\r\n\r\nAs far as the red fluid goes there are a variety of things that I have heard of people using. I am only really familiar with the green LHM but there are lots of discussions online about substitutes and alternatives for the red fluid as well as resources as to where to get it. Temperatures here in the SF bay area didn't make any problems with the oil. Suspension worked beautifully and the body stayed up for hours after the motor was turned off. Once the leaks were taken care of I decided to leave the canola oil for 6 months before going back to BF. Got lazy and it was at least 18 months of driving before I drained the Canola. It came out so clean and clear, and the suspension performance was so good that it was refilled with Canola rather than BF. The replacement wiring harness is a huge deal, as it\u2019s a big job from a labor perspective and these harnesses are a bit fickle when they\u2019re old and often suffer from insulation cracking and internal shorting. While a bit more work to keep up then the standard transmission the semi automatic transmission is an interesting driving experience and a very cool feature of this car. They were right side up before the car was painted. Easy flip. I've seen it this way on these cars SO MANY times in our country because painters are used to seeing \"Vs\" on so many American cars with V8 or V16 or whatever emblems, that MANY people just going on auto-pilot install them that way. I correct them constantly. Paint is new, so unless the installer pressed them in to soft paint, there won't be any fading or deep marks that would make correcting them a problem! By the way, the car was beautiful BEFORE the paint job, and the very particular owner didn't like the red pin-stripe that it had. That was what prompted the entire paint job. Just another pitch for this particular year and car, while I'm here: 1968 and 1969 are the only two years where one can easily have the cool early and durable dash AS WELL as the potential for the glass-covered turning headlights. The single spoke steering wheel where the spoke is also the steering shaft is designed to break away in an impact, those reducing injury to the driver.
