Upgraded that to a mild Engle 110 cam and during that repair found that there was a piston with a broken ring. It was repaired and the car now can keep up with freeway traffic easily. Very fun to drive. Well recently I noticed it was blowing some smoke and knowing that I plan to sell the car, I chose to replace the engine and not have any concerns about the broken ring being a reoccurring issue. It\u2019s basically an identical engine to the last, which was what vintage speedsters had installed in the car. I think they had built the engine and cracked the piston ring on assembly because the mileage was so low. \nPutting the top up is pretty easy. The bow that goes against the windshield has more of an arc than the windshield does, so it creates a clampdown to it as you install it. Then there\u2019s 3 clamps that hold that to the windshield frame. The car now drives great and keeps up with everything out there on the freeway just fine. \r\nThe new replacement engine long block was built by the lab speed shop in Rancho Cucamonga. It has new cylinder heads with new valve springs, new swirled valves, new pistons and cylinders, new 1.25:1 rocker arms on new solid shafts and swivel foot adjusters, new valve covers, new cam shaft, new lifters, new connecting rods, new crank shaft with 8 dowels, new lightweight flywheel, new clutch, new distributor with electric ignition, new alternator, new engine mounted oil cooler, new crankshaft pulley, new alternator pulley, and of course all the new bearings, rings, and gaskets. Now the one thing that I\u2019m not sure about is the crankcase. I couldn\u2019t tell if the case is new or reused without opening it up. It is very clean though. It\u2019s tapped for full flow although it is not being used because it has the high flow oil pump that is doing the same job. \r\n\r\nThe engine was installed by me, here at my garage.
