Lucas was simpler, and on the 3-4 weak points of the P38 (#1 EAS, #2 Superlockout (door lock issues which multiply like tribels), #3 Headgaskets (really combo of (early) \"not great\" coolant systems, to later 4.6 \"not good\" blocks), #4 HVAC (semi-easily remedied with Audi parts (and a dremel and a lot of patience....but this is a wear part). But aside from EAS, nobody has come up with a solution for superlockout in Bosch, but they have on Lucas (Mobi from Australia). That + a re-programmed BECM + a BlackBox (Nano) and it is REALLY REALLY hard to get stranded in a P38 (well aside from something catastrophic). Bosch doesn't share that luxury......my first '00 I ended almost paying someone to tow it out of my driveway, and he needed almost 2 hours to remove driveshaft/disable tranny in order to be able to get it out....before getting it home & dealing with gremlins.\r\n\r\nIs this rig awesome? Yes. GREAT interior (if you haven't seen one in person they are MUCH nicer than pics indicate & wear like iron). And the wood is in AWESOME shape (which is a huge plus as getting H&H refinished is a PITA/$$$$). Still it is a 200k rover.
