Although my first time on BaT as a seller, I do like the conversations that are going on so far. It appears most really understand how rare it is to find a sound and unmolested Series IIa. To answer some of the easier questions, yes, I've used a small amount of cold galvanizing on portions of the tailgate where the galv wore through - probably should have just waxed to protect. I have resisted most other cosmetics as I want prospective buyers to see the vehicle in its \"unvarnished and sound\" original condition. It is an unrestored but very \"dry\" rover, surprising a lot of local enthusiasts. The joke is that Llama dung and horse biscuits don't seem to bother the vehicle and may have had a hand in keeping the underside so solid and strong:^). \r\n\r\nTo answer Svenskar: The gearshift boot and handbrake boot were from Rovers NW genuine stock. The leather over-cover shift boot was also in the parts box from that era. I replaced all damaged leather seat bottom and seat back straps and kept the scraps from Atlantic Rover, same source as the seats, which are correct original. And as speculated, the jump seats in back are original. As to color, it was repainted the original Poppy Red in 2002 by a local paint shop (Dunton's). Wheels appear to have original paint and pinstriping. Worst flaked paint appears on the passenger window frame (occurred the summer that the canopy and door tops shared space with a wood shop. \r\n\r\nI have carried the Hi-Lift jack since I picked it up in 2005 but used it mostly to lift posts/beams on decks or to uproot stumps and shrubs. And because it looks so great on the front. I installed front rescue hooks using grade 8 bolts, but they haven't seen much use. For me the vehicle was mostly a signature smile getter, and annual 4th of July parade vehicle with use in hauling trail tools and volunteers to local trail heads. The very seasoned (yes, well beyond 10 years) farm tires are a good diameter for allowing this vehicle to be happy at 55, but as was commented, this is a farm and field vehicle, happy with country roads and b highways but not built to be freeway cruiser. The LandRover had generic seat belts on two front seats and a Volvo belt on the driver seat when I purchased it in 2002. Some of them may have been installed by the importer in SF as original owner add on, but the mixture of belt designs (which works well as the Volvo belt stays out of the way of the door) could have been at McMillan Motors where a lot of receipts indicate work by the previous Anacortes owner. (The ownership tale is a bit long and so it lost some bits in editing! or I'm too long winded!). \n\nTo be clear, I am the second owner in Anacortes, other owner or owners were in the Etna California area, was in a horse barn there when spotted by the first Anacortes owner. So the car has had at least 3 owners, possibly more if it was passed from ranch to ranch in that area. McMillan Motors was for a long time the only import auto repair shop in Anacortes, and I know the original shop owner and can see if he remembers. The LR's owner previous to me was a local medical doctor with a small llama farm about 5 miles out of town. \n\nBTW, I've investigated the galvanized trim per some comments and took the suggestion of one sharp eyed commenter (@WAGONBOYTD @ConteCucina) to remove the black paint from one of the grab handles on the back. I did not use a wire brush as the paint on the galvanized handle wasn't hard to remove, and the galvanized looks good with patina and rub spots. The lower hinges and pivots were also painted (same 2002 pre-sale paint job) leading me to believe the shop did not want to bother taping the galvanized before renewing the paint. Surprised me as I wasn't even aware of the over zealous paint practice despite using the lift gate a lot over the years.
