I use it to carve canyons and for errands around town. 'Works great, but it is an exercise to get in and out of. \r\n\r\nThere really isn't anything to do with the suspension. It is what it is, and it's pretty good with the right springs, bushings and dampers. These cars have evolved over the years, with improvements in parts that you would replace during normal maintenance. \r\n\r\nThe dampers on the car are useless, so you would need new shocks. Since this is one of the early flat bottom cars (lucky you, as you get a far lighter car, with the better damper lengths) just duplicate the dampers in their original lengths using Protech double adjustable. Stick to the original springs for now. \r\n\r\nStrip the car down to the chassis and weld on the shear plates to the rear suspension mounts at the frame. Easy and cheap. These plates are part of the later Westfield frames, and you can purchase them from the factory. Weld them in place, Then refinish the frame. Pick up the latest Westfield bushings, the multi piece ones in urethane not the \"metalistics\". \r\nRefinish the suspension parts and the rear axle. \r\n\r\nFix that awful hole and scoop in the bodywork. The body will easily clear the BMC A series if you shorten the oil filler tube. Also quick and easy. It's brazed in place. \r\n\r\nDon't worry about the radiator. You can get an alloy one from Jeg's for about $200 that will fit right in .Look for the \"aluminum MG Radiator\". Or, you can do what I do, which is to have a custom rad made that costs about $800... Just buy the Jags unit. \r\n\r\nThe car should have disc brakes up front, so you just pick up the parts form whomever you buy your Spridget parts from. Ol'Phartz Parts can help you with rear discs if you want them. Some modification required. \r\n\r\nThe engine cam make a lot of power. Mine does about 125 HP, and makes the car very fast. I also have the Datsun 210 gearbox, which is a 5 speed. 'No conversion is necessary, as the gearbox fits right in, and can sit on a Chevy mount, or you can cut the Rivergate 5 speed conversion mount. It even uses the original shifter hole for the BMC 'box and the drive shaft. Much better than the old ribcase, unless you have a ribcase racing 'box with the straight cut, CR gears. Figure that you will spend a bout $6000 in parts for your engine if you decide to go for big power, 1380cc big bore with a proper cylinder head (where most of our money will go). \r\n\r\nWhere you go with it really depends on what you think it is in the first place. It can be an excellent Lotus 11 if you want it to be. You can install the 15\" wheels, Dunlop vintage tires, and with the right dampers, bushings and springs, have an excellent car for drifting the canyons. Just get used to having your head at bumper height for every car on the road. \r\nDon't bother with a \"fuel cell\", it won't help. But you might make the tank a bit bigger. There is room. \r\n\r\nIf you have never built a car before, you will know why this one was never finished. There are a lot of systems. Electrical, fuel, suspension, drive train... Lots of details to work out and lots of development once you have it finished, all of which require driving he car to correct. \r\n\r\nThe manual that came with cars of that year is pretty much useless, but I think that the current build manual is available on Amazon. \r\n\r\nThere is still the US distributor, Manik Technologies, in Tx. Tom is a good guy, and can get parts, and will connect you to me if you need tech help. \r\n\r\ni bought mine on a whim, when I was looking for a Morgan 4/4 that turned out to be way more expensive. It's pretty easy, and with the Painless block, very easy to wire the car without having to deal with figuring out the schematic to much. You will have the epiphany about two days into the work, and the electrical system will just about wire itself.
