By way of introduction, I am a retired engineer and a 35 year PCA member who has owned and maintained an assortment of air cooled 911s. I have been an active member (Tom1394racing) on the Early 911S Registry and Pelican Parts websites both of which have proved invaluable to me as learning and reference tools for my various Porsche projects. In particular, the 8 year restoration of this car was documented in great detail on the Early 911S website and the engine build was documented on the Pelican Parts Engine Building forum. I encourage any of you have an interest in this car to click the links to these threads in the auction description and to also read the article on the car which appeared in the Spring 2022 edition of the Early 911S Registry Esses Magazine and is shown in the gallery photos. I will be available during the auction to answer questions and provide more detailed information as needed.\r\nHere is the abridge version of the restoration. I purchased this car back in August of 2013 as an unfinished project at an estate auction. Given that 95% of the original parts came with the purchase and that I had the correct original engine and gearbox from a previous transaction, I decided to bite the bullet and make this a \u201ccorrect original\u201d restoration. I stripped the car to a bare shell, inventoried all the pieces and delivered the car to Automobile Associates in Canton, CT for the chassis restoration and paint. During the year the chassis was being restored, I sourced the parts requiring specialist work to established professionals for restoration or refinishing to original condition. \r\nInterior - Euro Interiors \r\nWheels \u2013 Weidman\u2019s Wheels\r\nBright work - Tru6 \r\nEngine electrical components - PartsKlassic \r\nMFI injection pump - MFI Werks. \r\nBrake Calipers - PMB\r\nGauges - North Hollywood Speedometer \r\nEngine case, cylinders and flywheel - Verden Tool \r\nCylinder heads - Anchor Atlantic \r\nI refinished most of the mechanical components myself. \r\n\r\nOnce the car came back from Auto Associates, I took my time on reassembly, enjoying the journey and trying to make everything as \u201coriginal\u201d as possible. In that spirit, I rebuilt the engine to 2.5L long stroke configuration but kept the overall appearance original.\r\n\r\nOnce reassembly was completed in early spring of 2021, Automobile Associates did the final MFI tuning, 4 wheel alignment and corner balancing. I used the 2021 driving season as an extended shakedown to fix a few small issues and enjoy the car. It now has 1,800 post-restoration miles and looks & drives like new.
