This kind of caught me off guard as I was not informed the auction went live today. I will be adding a walk around video, a cold start video and a driving video. I will tell you what could use attention on the car. It has a slight oil leak. Not a leak that im adding oil every few months. Im guessing its probably the rear main seal as these 390 engines are famous for seepage in that area. The front tires are 235-70-15's. They will rub the edge of the fenders on incline or decline hard turns. I had 225-70-15's on it for a while and had no rubbing. AM radio has power but I cant get any stations. It worked fine until I had the top of the fender painted. Im thinking the antenna cable is loose or disconnected. I have several classics so I dont get to use this car that often so I never got around to looking into it further. Window tint has a scratch in it on drivers window. Never drive with the windows up so didn't ever bother me. There is no rust underneath this car. From what I was told Mr King only used this car during race season so it never saw snow or salt. He pulled a small trailer with his photography equipment to race tracks around the Northeast hence the hitch.. I have owned the car for 6 years and it has been stored in a climate controlled facility. Its a great car, never gave me any trouble. It gets a lot of attention everywhere you go with it. He was already riding high, but then when he saw Becky in the booth across from him the game became a distant memory.\r\n\r\nHis goofy smile and awkward way of walking over to her table swept her off her feet. The way she filled out the varsity sweater she was wearing and laughed off his very best efforts to woo her made her the most attractive thing he\u2019d ever seen. Well, next to his \u201953 Ford Sunliner, anyway. \r\n\r\nBo spent every dime he made on that convertible. A tucked and rolled interior. A chrome dress-up kit under the hood, wide whites all the way around, and skirts in the back. He was saving up for a Continental Kit, but that dream would never see the light of day. Becky came to love the Sunliner, as well, but only because it was his.\r\n\r\nThey quickly lost track of how many evenings they\u2019d spent in the convertible together. The drives out to a private spot near Lake Leon became their favorite pastime, first in the front seat listening to \u2018Cort in the Fort\u2019 spin tunes over at KFSX, the Fort Stockton station. Later, in the backseat, the tunes were drowned out by more guttural sounds.\r\n\r\nIn a course of events neither had planned on, Becky graduated early without walking the stage and Bo ditched the scholarship to Texas A&M to go to work for his dad\u2019s refrigeration company as soon as he threw his graduation cap in the air. They moved into a garage apartment over on San Jacinto Street and welcomed their first born seven months later. Turns out all Bo had to do was hang his pants on the bedpost and Becky was with child. They had four curtain climbers by the fall of \u201960, with a fifth one on the way by 1962. \r\n\r\nThey\u2019d moved out of the garage apartment and bought a 3-2-2 with a carport out in Road Runner Estates by the time number six came along in early \u201964. I only engaged it once or twice when I first got it. Reason being, Car at 70 is only at 2800 rpm if I remember correctly. But more because there are no directions in the manual on how to engage it. It's a lever that pulls out and in under dash. I didn't know if it was to be activated while moving or not. I did it while moving and it went into OD. Very strange feeling. When you let off the gas in OD the car wouldn't slow down at all. Felt like it was in neutral, lol. Then you tap the gas quick and it would disengage OD. A 1964 Galaxie 500, 2 door hardtop, 390/4brrl with a 3 speed and overdrive. I could cruise around town in second gear overdrive. Mashing the pedal to the floor opened up the back two barrels and shifted out of overdrive, pushing up the rpm's. Literally launched the car! The other winning factor of having the OD was that the Galaxie would sink the speedo. I loved that car. Traded it in for a one year old 69 Mustang. Should of kept the Galaxie, but I was just 18 and was heading off to college. The Mustang was newer and had a/c. Big plus in West Texas summers. This is the first 390, 3 spd OD car I have seen since mine. Quite a find.
