The Tundra was in for a Toyota Recall for replacement of the lower ball joints in June, 2007. No frame rust was noted at that time; nor have I seen any rust except for some surface rust on the exhaust components - as one might expect. I might \"assume\" that such frame rust is perhaps a regional issue. Historical use of Winter road salt in Oregon / Washington is very limited. I have not had the truck down on the sand or surf at the beach. \r\nBeyond the typical oil & fluid changes, tires, two batteries & a brake job.....the only repair (beyond Toyota recalls) was for a tear in a CV joint boot on the passenger side front axle and replacement of the tire pressure monitoring / sending units. No electrical issues other than the tpms. All electrical systems operate as originally designed. My knowledge of the history on the previous owner's experience was limited to that gleaned from the Carfax generated at the time. It appeared as new with some 10K miles on it when I purchased it. The spray in bedliner was already applied and it visually appeared as though no rough material had ever been placed or transported in the truck - as is still the case today. With my ownership, the Tundra has always been garage kept except for those too rare occasions when it was out on a camping trip. A number of years back, we had a small Bigfoot travel trailer that the Tundra was utilized as a tow vehicle for. I would estimate that it towed for an accumulated total of approximately 5K miles. I should mention that I had another (second) truck during these years that was utilized for any material hauling or household work related duties. Other than the occasional camping outing, the truck was utilized as a passenger vehicle. Oil & filter changes were typically completed by me and recorded in the vehicle log - a small spiral note pad. Up until the last few years the truck was always hand washed & dried. As I've aged, I've found it a bit more tolerable to take the Tundra through an occasional car wash. I tend to be a bit finicky regarding vehicle care & appearance, but the truck is in stellar condition for its age and mileage. We are selling the Tundra as we just don't use it much. We find the need to take it on an outing to the grocery store occasionally or related duty merely to exercise the fluids & keep the battery charged. So much for the history. I did mine last week on my 06 double cab with 117,000 miles. No checking, no cracks, no stretching or obvious wear. I did it for peace of mind, you can sneak a peek at the belt by loosening the cam covers. This underside and frame looks pristine compared to a midwest vehicle. This truck will outlast most peoples interest. Wish they still made em like this.
