Nevertheless a truly beautiful example of a proper and correct restoration,,, even presented with the correct sized battery. P.s. My best friends brother had bought it new, and pulled out in front of a tractor trailor, and got backended really bad. Slightly bent the frame, and he went on to American cars after beginning work with GM. Motor was locked up, as were the wheels. Got the title for $50 bucks. Played with it, got the motor unlocked as well as the rusted wheels, found a gutted '59, had the body cut off it, and welded on the '61. Straightened the slight wack in the frame, and over the years pressed on with refurbishing, while using it as a daily driver.Traded it in the mid '70's for no good reason. Now look. I'm 70, and I'll be bidding down the road. Yellow is mellow. Not my favorite color, but I will live with it. The hand brake set up also is an asset when on a hill and waiting to move forward. It did have overdrive, but first gear and reverse had been damaged. The seller gave me the name of the guy who had the original transmission, so I bought that. Then one Saturday afternoon decided to drop the bad overdrive transmission and replace it with the original transmission. As I was unbolting the driveshaft, I noticed that there was a metal sleeve around it which didn\u2019t make any sense to me at the time. Once I had the driveshaft out and after staring at the sleeve for a few minutes, I realized that the metal sleeve could be unscrewed. Once I had it loosened, I realized that the driveshaft could be adjusted for length and then the metal sleeve screwed down to tighten the length of \u201cthe adjustable driveshaft\u201d. What an amazing solution! I put the original transmission back in the car, then readjusted \u201cthe adjustable driveshaft\u201d and reinstalled it. Has some of the sheet metal been altered to make sure there\u2019s no contact between the exhaust system and the frame? It may just be the angle that makes it look that way to me.
