The more I look at it though the more I see the parallels between Rivian and the front end of a Jeep. Jeeps are rugged, function over form adventure type vehicles that have built their brand off a uniquely identifiable quirky look. On the other hand looking across the traditional truck landscape there's no focus on beauty or aesthetic, instead just a sea of overindulgent brutalist masculinity. This puts the Rivian in a strange neighborhood, a bit like Davy Crockett trying to fit in at Muscle Beach.\r\n\r\nThat being said that ugly utilitarian front end on the Jeep has become iconic with a brand more valuable than the parent company themselves. What I think Rivian is doing here is more about establishing a lifestyle identity and brand than something targeted towards the traditional truck crowd.
