Alex was so well respected in the Viper community that I never collected receipts or paperwork for the routine service conducted on the car. No major work was done on the Viper because it never needed much. It has been bullet proof. Alex did install the shifter and the exhaust system. He also replaced the clutch, pressure plate,and slave cylinder before I took the Viper on a long road trip to Gatlinburg 4 years ago. In the last 8 years I have only needed to replace two sensors. Excellent question. The Viper is one of the last 300 built and is stamped with that. Alex and I did a regular inspection to to check for any signs of head gasket failure. There was never any indication of such. I was prepared to do a head gasket change but decided to keep the motor original. I would also add that while I enjoyed the car I was never one to flog or abuse the car (I'm almost 60 years old) during my ownership one of the reasons I changed the exhaust was to lower the operating temperature and a Roe Racing thermostat controller was installed to kick on the cooling fans sooner than the factory settings and continue to operate after the car was turned of to take care of the heat soak after shutdown. That is the main reason I upgraded the exhaust system to reduce the amount of heat in the side sills, and it does sound much better over stock exhaust. I made the decision not to repaint since the car paint was all original. The sills are easy to remove and if the next owner wishes to repaint this would be an easy correction. Like the early 996, bearings go bad on a small percentage of them but it's recommended by many to change them anyway. If you plan on mods, get the latest ones installed.
