One thing that has not yet been said about the drivetrain is that there is a TCI Streetfighter torque converter bolted to the Turbo Hydramatic 350 transmission. The stall speed is in the 3000-3600 range. The previous owner described the trans as rebuilt and I could tell that a shift kit had been installed as a feature of that with the crisp, hard shifts it offered. I bought the car in 2011 and it was a good running and driving car powered by a Pontiac 350 with an open rearend. Over time I put a new top on it, installed the rearend and in 2016 I installed its current engine, carburetor and factory cast-iron headers (Ram Air II exhaust manifolds). The car drives great around town and I have had it on the expressway a number of times. I am selling the car because I really don't drive it that much and have other cars (2 1965 Pontiac Tempest wagons and a 1972 Citroen SM) to optimize or build.\r\n\r\nThis car is fast! The drivetrain was thought through to work together well. I posted a link below with much collective wisdom from the Performance Years Pontiac Forum about a TH350 transmission being good for street duty and there is even a vignette from racer with an 11 second car running one. There are not many miles on this new engine and it has not been raced, but has done well at stoplights when chance brings a car worthy of running in the next lane. \r\n\r\nYou won't find many 1967-1969 Firebirds with a Hurst Dual-Gate shifter like in this car. The shifter was not offered for these by the factory and there is not one widely available in the aftermarket for a first gen bird. The His/Hers shifter performs exactly as it should, both in the automatic mode and the manual shift mode. My friend who is a fabricator made some custom linkage for this piece out of an Oldsmobile. The carburetor was modified by Qjet guru Cliff Ruggles for a 500 hp engine (which this engine was represented as capable of).\r\n\r\nHere are some photos of these round-port long branch exhaust manifolds before I installed them. They are often referred to as \"factory headers\" and are different than garden variety \"log style\" exhaust manifolds.\r\n\r\nThe round-port variant of these exhaust manifolds are no longer being reproduced and are very difficult to find (with a set commanding $2K). An original set is unobtainium.
