It right on the cusp of being either late 40 or very early 41. As Chris Craft tend to follow model years like the car manufactures did. Most would consider it a 40 model as thats when the blue face gauges were used and silver face in 41. But Chris Craft was well known for using up there stock before changing over. So the early 41's could have the blue face gauges in them.\n\nI own hull number 24 which is 9 after this one and it wasn't built until may of 41. So they were not a big seller. Also Chris Craft only built 25 of the 25' Sportsmans. \n\nInterior was originally an apple green leather. \n\nThe rear seat is not correct. None of them came with one. You do this on the trailer, in your driveway. The water will only reach to the top of short hose length, then drain out. Initially the water will leak out of all of the seams, then the planks will gradually swell and make her water tight. The fact that the boat still has the hose fitting suggests she has a \u201clive\u201d bottom - requiring the traditional soaking before she becomes water tight. An earlier post exaggerated the time required for the bottom to become water tight. If the wood is good, it should only take a few days. Longer suggests the wood is less sound. I have a post war 25\u2019 Sportsman (hull S145) and some of the documentation calls her a 1947, some 1948. Btw, on the original build sheet, CC refers to this boat as a runabout, but agree that they are known as a utility. Lastly, small world, according to the build sheet, this boat was originally delivered to Walloon Lake, Michigan. We have a home on Walloon and summer there, though we keep our Sportsman in the Petoskey City Marina.
