I kind of doubt the down force is more than the non-SRT models but it sure adds to the sleek design. The awesome thing is the \"fins\" that extend from the hood, through the inside of the car and the spoiler has them, too. That is consequent design and one of a kind. Still to this day, 19 years later people stop me at the gas stations, restaurants etc and ask me about the car. And if you turn the compressor a bit faster, hang on to your hat. They are quick. Try driving one without the traction control on. Make sure you insurance is paid up.\r\n\r\nVery special built and low production. I think that the production numbers mentioned by someone in the comments section are high. I believe that the production was much lower. They were built in December of 2004 and January of 2005. 2 months. They were built from 2004 to 2008 and were developed during the merger of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler. The Crossfire is based on the Mercedes-Benz R170 platform which shares 80% of its components with the MB SLK 320 model. \r\nWhile Chrysler provided some of the interior, and all the exterior styling, the mechanical equipment such as the frame, transmission, engine, suspension, and the car\u2019s dimensions are the Mercedes-Benz SLK 320 on the R170 platform. The seats, dashboard, instruments, and controls also come directly from the SLK 320. The transmissions were a six-speed manual, or a five-speed automatic mated to a 3.2 L, 18 valve, SOHV, V6 engine. The supercharged models were named SRT-6 models by Chrysler, but they are the same as the M-B SLK 32 AMG conversion models.\r\n \r\nTransmission: All SRT-6 models came with the M-B five-speed automatic transmission (5g-Tronic) as it was felt that the six-speed manual transmission would not hold up given the horsepower rating of the STR-6 model.
