I\u2019ve seen this issue happen in so many other industries and it\u2019s easily resolved by one simple solution: pre-orders!\r\n\r\nHonda and other manufacturers like Porsche and others can create a simple but clear pre-order system. They know how their final products look/drive/feel 1-2 years in advance at minimum, so if they know they are building an enthusiast special (GT350, Type R, GT3 manual, etc) they can put up a 1 or 2 month window for preorders a year or two in advance, advertise it heavily during that short time, and hell make it have a $500-1000 non-refundable deposit to hold the car within 5% of the estimated MSRP. \r\n\r\nSide note: These enthusiast car pre-orders would need to have hard stipulations that dealers found to mark ups on these pre-orders will have less allocations for this product and future enthusiast and volume products. \r\n\r\nSee a true enthusiast will wait, even 1-2 years, for the right product. We just ask for the assurance that we won\u2019t be gouged at the other end. By having pre-orders, there is a much smaller market/margin for resellers and they lose any incentive to flip because enthusiasts are satiated, they get the car they want in due time.
