The car was initially owned by an elderly couple and the wife drove it. She averaged about 880 miles per year for the life of their ownership. They moved to California and did not want to take the car so a friend of their grandson purchased it. He sold it to me with minimal mileage being put on it during his ownership. In my ownership I work at home so very limited city driving. I've driven to Richmond, VA, Virginia Beach, VA and a trip to Detroit to Grand Rapids and back to Central PA that totaled 2,100 miles. I found out from the Bring a Trailer team member assisting with this auction. Screenshot of the recall on the carfax attached.\n\nI was in Orlando for work all of last week so I didn't have a chance to coordinate. I contacted MB Monday this week and the soonest they could get it in was this upcoming Tuesday (after this auction ends.) I am happy to schedule an appointment tomorrow morning for next week, but was advised since it could impact the shipping/pick up of the car to have any of those discussions with the winning bidder. It's really just bad timing.\n\nJuly 2022 - These are very clearly two different recalls but the 2nd photo is showing a recall on the \"sliding roof bonding\" which was inspected and deemed not part of the other recall. \n\nAgain, the recall issued on 1/19/23 has not been inspected. The relatively minor issue is referred to as the \"Crank Shaft Position Sensor\" which is a small part on the outside of the engine which costs less than $100 and which is estimated by MercedesMedic.com to cost $400 for a repair by a professional mechanic.\r\nhttps://www.mercedesmedic.com/crank-shaft-position-sensor/\r\nThe more serious potential problem is for the successor V8 motor (5.5 Liter) and is referred to as the \"Balance Shaft Issue\" which is internal to the motor and can cause internal damage when it fails. https://www.mercedesmedic.com/check-my-mercedes-benz-for-balance-shaft-issue-by-vin-m272273/ Note that the balance shaft issue also applied to the early version of the Mercedes V6 E350 engine. Eventually, Mercedes fixed this problem for both engines. This article tells you how to check your vin number if you have a V6 E350 or a V8 E550 to see if your engine was produced after Mercedes solved the problem.
