A pre-sale inspection is available in the gallery, as are refurbishment photos. \r\n\r\nThe Cummins R2.8 is a beast of a 4 cylinder diesel crate engine, putting out 310 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm. There has been maybe 1 Land Rover on Bring a Trailer with the Cummins R2.8, so my hope is to convince you that it is a great match for a Land Rover, and in particular this Ninety!\r\n\r\nI will be checking in frequently, and answering all questions in a timely manner. I will have different posts about the engine and why I chose to repower this Ninety with it, what is special about an early Ninety (and why I keep calling it a 1985), the dual core air conditioning/heating system, all the paint and body flaws and blemishes, and what I would do to the truck if it does not sell and I keep it. \r\n\r\nIt is an honest, reliable, drivers truck. The Murphy Gauge (that you see in the dash and in the start up) is the information center for it. The arrows allow you to cycle from RPM, temperature, oil pressure and engine hours. It has an amber light for warnings, and a red light for, well, bigger warnings. \r\n\r\nThe Murphy gauge will also give you the fault code on the screen. \r\n\r\nYou type the fault code to the Cummins \"quick serve\" website (your own log in and unique to your engine serial number), it gives the the error and all the trouble shooting steps. She's not original but neither are the six-figure LS3 conversions. The cummins is arguably more reliable than original, but all diesels are more reliable to start. My handle says '85... I never thought anything of it. But on early 90's and 110's the VIN doesn't actually tell you the model year (that started later in the 80's). So when @BaT ran the VIN through their decoding software it popped up as a 1984. I wanted to be respectful of the process, so left it. \r\n\r\nHowever, I immediately ordered an expedited \"British Motor Museum\" Heritage Certificate to be definitive. It came back this morning... as a 1985!\r\n\r\n1984 is the first year for Land Rover 90's. These early ones are special because they have the metal roofs with the ribs on the outside (not the inside), and the early Series style door handles. It is available in the gallery, but I want to be sure it is looked at by all those interested in the rig:\n\n- Shock tower covers (dealt with - demonstrated in engine bay photos)\n- Radiator leaking at cooling fins (slight staining of coolant, no drips... and there is no actual fluid visible).\n- Thermostat gasket leaking (dealt with - resealed and no leak)\n- Rear prop shaft loose (New Tom Woods - I have not adjusted this)\n- Front prop shaft missing rubber yoke boot (dealt with and replaced - see image below).\n- Front and rear brake pads with good friction material.\n\nThis is a leak free rig. (increase possibility of mechanical failure). There is the argument that spacers increase the wear on bearings and suspension... which is technically true, but (in my view) absolutely no different to more modern wheels with decreased back spacing (the hub bearings don't care if the increased lever arm is from spacers or offset rims).\r\n\r\nSpecifically for this vehicle, I love the tall, skinny tires... but wanted the wider stance and the military spec Wolf wheels.
