I learned a lot from that car. My buddy and I drove to Vegas overnight in August and then drove home to San Diego in the middle of the afternoon in 120 degree heat with no AC. That chewed up a head gasket, but it continued to run for a couple years after that before I could afford a JDM pull out engine to replace it with. The exhaust manifold on these has internal baffling that tends to collapse, choking off exhaust flow and limiting power. Think Eddie Murphy with the bananas in \"Beverly Hills Cop.\" I got pretty adept at changing the manifold - which is **underneath and bolted to** the intake manifold - in a day. I can tell you it is a blast to drive. Driving it home I had to climb a mountain with an unsorted carburetor in third gear (barely) while semi\u2019s had to get out of the slow lane to pass me. That wasn\u2019t alot of fun. However once over the pass she could keep up with traffic no problem (on declines and straightaways). She is in the shop now getting the carb rebuilt among other things. I then bought a wrecked 1976 Accord hatchback that had 10k miles on it, also for $1200. I rebuilt and painted it.
