These are definitely not cheap to maintain - $2k-3k a year is a safe bet after belt services and cam seals. At least it\u2019s not a 355 or TR. They are not the worst as far as reliability / repair, but the leather needs a lot of attention on an ongoing basis, window seals, AC stuff is not cheap when it goes, valve guides if you\u2019re unlucky, the stereo is not robust and replacement face plates are unobtainium, then you get weird pre-OBD stuff and the occasional sensor/actuator (like the rear spoiler). The driveline is fairly robust aside from the valve guides, it\u2019s everything else that kills you. You could get a perfect car with all maintenance up to date and have to drop $40k in the span of a couple years to keep it mint. Ask any of the people who\u2019ve spent more than that just that sorting out their cars. They\u2019re great cars and great engines that will run forever, but saying people got burned because they didn\u2019t plan for maintenance costs is flat untrue. The closest thing you can plan for is $3k a year maintenance and $30k in the bank for repairs with these. The only stickiness I noticed is the driver side interior wing mirror cover. There's no evidence of suspension work on this car. As an owner, you know that control arm bushings (especially front) and ball joints are frequently only good for 10-15k miles due to the heavy V12. Shocks leak at similar intervals and bombs should be replaced at the same time. Actuator gears strip. It's possible with a DIY to do the complete suspension for $12-15K using Delta V replacements, but if you take the car to a mechanic, I'd expect $20k +. The leather is subjective and cosmetic, but there's not much of it that hasn't shrunk or isn't worn and that could easily be $10-15k depending on the quality of work. The engine mounts are a known problem and should be replaced with 550s. Expect $2-3K for that (not an easy DIY.) Of course, there's AC noted, tensioners and idler pulleys should be upgraded, and it looks like everything is sticky. Even DIY on that, SNM would likely charge $5k for the complete car. AC could be rebuilt and charged, it would also need a new filter / dryer and possibly hoses. We don't know about fuel pumps (another common issue with 456s) and on and on. So I stand by the statement that there's a $40k bill coming on this car, and certainly more to get it right.
