Not necessarily responding in order, but for starters, 54 years is correct because my father sold the car in the mid 70s to a friend. After experiencing serious seller's remorse, he was able to buy it back a few years later. I've been nurturing and maintaining it since the late 90s. I've only put about 5k miles on it in the 18 years since he transferred the title to me in 2006. I think the total mileage is accurate (111K) but cannot say for sure.\r\nThe car had a rear fender bender in the mid-70s which my father seemed to have repaired on the cheap. When I had the entire car repainted in 2010, I made sure to have them refurbish that repair (photo 102). Then about 2 years ago a neighbor's car dinged the front fender and headlamp in a slow motion crunch while the 230SL was parked. That led to replacing the front bumper and headlamps. \r\nIn terms of rust, I've not hired anyone to do a comprehensive welding so nothing was \"missed.\" Yes there is some rust but I think it's cosmetic and have no reason to think there's anything structural. The car has been mostly garage kept, including, in recent years, in a climate controlled garage for classic cars from late fall through early spring. \r\nOn the interior restoration, I opted not to have the glove box, horn pad or the headliner redone for cost reasons.
