In the last 3 months, the seller seems to have spent serious bucks on what he probably thought would be a pristine low-mileage car that only needed a good detailing. \r\n\r\nI recently walked away from a 69k mile 1991 300SE that had been serviced almost exclusively at the corner gas station and clearly hadn't had anything major done to it since, like, ever. Not because it didn't need it, but because nobody knew better. \r\n\r\nThe 8-hole wheels on this car appeared on many Mercedes models starting in 1992. They never appeared on the w126 originally, which ended its US market run in 1991. \r\n\r\nI'm curious about the decision to wrap the steering wheel -- with such low mileage, I'm surprised that this was done, unless someone just preferred this look. And while I'm nit-picking, I should point out that the floor mats should be grey with a Mercedes-Benz logo on them, though the black ones pictured seem to fit well and are in good shape, so whatever.\r\n\r\nI disagree with the comment about the Carfax -- it's not scary. The notations about what was checked, etc, are very dependent on the service facility/dealership and what they entered into the system; many times, it's just boilerplate language that's not an accurate reflection of what was actually done. The relevant pieces of information are: \r\n\r\n1) Failed emissions in 2001\r\n2) top end rebuild in 2002\r\n3) accident in 2003\r\n4) not much done to the car between 2007 and 2017\r\n\r\nGiven that items #1-3 happened over 15 years ago, I wouldn't worry about it. New Valve Guides Stem Seals replaced. During that process, YES, the Timing Guide Rails and the Tensioner were replaced. New Thermostat, Oil Sump Gasket, Power Steering Pump, Oil Pan Gasket, Valve Cover Gaskets, all fluids, Fuel Injector Seals, Cam Oiler Kits, power steering hoses, Breather Hose, Suspension Hoses, Air Distributor Hose...all replaced. Meaning it'll outlast the rest of the car. There's no water.\r\nBack to the SEC.\r\nThese are great motors in these cars. As close to bullet proff as they come.
