All of them sold in the US were two doors, no wagons or four doors. It was the end of the line and only 20,000 or so were built as \u201873s. They had a number of unique features not present on earlier years. Some of those features are present on this car, some are missing. The rear seat covering is not from a \u201873, as that year had no \u201cD\u201d emblems on the seat backs. The bumper over riders are from an earlier year too - the \u201873 bumpers had much larger over riders that were completely rubber covered, part of the federal mandates that affected all cars sold in the US in \u201873. The unique \u201873 Headlight and wiper switches are missing on this one too - the knob centers should be green and light up when the headlights are turned on. The heater control panel should also light up when the headlights go on, another feature unique to the \u201873. This one does have the correct and unique \u201873 heater control panel, recognizable by its flat profile. The rear window has a defroster grid like a \u201873 should, but the switch appears to be missing from the dash. Most importantly, the \u201873 engine had more horsepower due to the use of larger valves. It was rated at 100 horses, though the service manager at the dealership where I purchased my new \u201873 510 said the real output was closer to 103 hp, a substantial boost from the 92 hp rating from earlier years. The \u201873s also were the only PL510s with inertia reel seat belts. I\u2019m sure there are a couple other unique features I forgot, but wanted to mention that when you buy a \u201873 510 you\u2019re getting the best of the best. The 73 also had a heavier \"basket weave\" upholstery in the seat centers.\r\n\r\nAnd yes, the \"illuminated\" wiper & headlight switches had a fiber optic cord, going from a simple small silver metal canister with a single dash bulb in it (same as the later 620 trucks & I think the B210..............). The fiber optic cord entered at the rear of the switch housing & pushed & pulled (moved) along with the on-off shaft, the cord terminated at the very tip of the shaft where the 73 only knobs attached & offered a pretty dim illumination......but it was cool!\r\n\r\nPS my 1972 Wagon parts car also had inertia reel seatbelts front & rear!\r\n\r\nAnother interesting fact is that the Sedan lower C pillar interior panel has a hole in it, which lined up with a big captive nut in the lower C pillar, which was a rear seat shoulder harness in some other countries.........never the USA.
