Clean Title / CARFAX. \r\n\r\nOctober 2018 - I bought a salvaged 2005 M3 Convertible 6-speed with 77K on the clock\u2014which was hit in the rear\u2014making it an ideal donor for this project.\r\n\r\nMy objective was a full M3 swap that looked as though it rolled off the assembly line in this configuration. To that end, I engaged George Hill, proprietor of Hill Performance Bimmers in Cedar Park, TX, to plan and execute 100% of the swap. Work commenced in November 2018, and the car was undergoing rod-bearing break-in miles in late February 2019. \\\r\n\r\nThe engine oil was replaced at 1K miles and at every 3K miles moving forward (professionally).\r\n\r\nGeorge exceeded my expectations; his 14 years as a BMW Master Technician, superb craftsmanship, and impeccable attention to detail are evident in every facet of the build and driving experience. Mechanically, electrically, electronically, all 100% sound (deltas are listed further down). Driveability, reliability, and performance are what one would expect from a professionally built E46 M3 with 30K on the clock. The interior is near mint. The AC / Heat / HVAC work perfectly. The engine does not leak a drop of oil. The sound paired with the silkiness of the S54 is intoxicating, to say the least. Unfortunately, I was not aware of that fact when I went on a buying spree. \n\nGeorge tunes the DSC to factor-in the additional weight of Touring vs a stock M3 coupe. Tourings are approximately 300 ~ 400lbs heavier. Not many builders go the extra mile to specifically tune the DSC. My DSCs are intrusive during spirited drives. For the most part I turn-off the DSC. I am tempted to disable it, but my wife does drive the Tourings. \nSome builders farm-out their work, while George is in-house. He has researched which exhaust system yields the best power gains. I have spoken to George over a dozen times. I also own a swapped Touring done by George and his work is second to none.\r\n\r\nAs an example, harnesses are de-pinned and re-pinned rather than cut and spliced or entire new wiring harnesses are built using factory parts. The factory routing for the wiring is followed and the harnesses are wrapped in materials to match the appearance of how it was done as new.\r\n\r\nNeedless to say George sweats the details: note how the instrument cluster was modified to show the 4 doors are open - all E46 M3's were coupes or 'verts - and the LED's need added to the cluster so this feature is proper for a sedan or touring.\r\n\r\nI also need to vouch for @markseven as a stand-up guy.
