In short, I\u2019m 42 years old and this is my (3rd) FJZ80 that I\u2019ve owned over the years (the FJZ80 was the truck I admired in high school but couldn\u2019t afford, hence the attraction to them). The (2) I previously owned, I fixed anything needed, drove them as a 3rd vehicle for a period of time, then eventually sold. This time around I wasn\u2019t in the market but had recently sold my business and wanted something to keep me busy until diving into the next adventure.\r\n\r\nIn short, I found this truck and it hit absolutely every box that I could ask for. The paint is in unbelievable condition and original. All vin stickers are on every panel, from fenders to the hood, doors, tailgate, etc. It runs well, no leaks, and most importantly the truck has absolutely NO rust. It was owned in Arizona and New Mexico it\u2019s entire life. When I mean no rust, there is no rust anywhere. And yes, it has differential locks too, along with EMU BP-51 adjustable suspension, white knuckle rock step bars, etc. I also liked that it didn\u2019t have the rear spoiler, a plus for me. \r\n\r\nWhen it came home I decided to bring the truck to an even higher level knowing just how rare it is. I\u2019m OCD and I admit to this. I pulled all interior parts, had the carpets and floor mats pressure washed and steam cleaned, replaced any broken interior pieces, replaced the steering wheel (I still have the original which is actually in decent shape too). I also replaced the mud guards, all factory emblems, the front grille, brake and gas pedal pads, all upper exterior door trim pieces, along with other parts (Note \u2013 replacements were OEM Toyota parts). I also sourced all brand new bumpers and bumper caps. These were OEM and came painted the correct colors from the factory (i.e. Toyota). I also had all fender flares removed, painted by Carolina Coast Collision (Mercedes Benz certified shop) and new factory white fender seals installed. Back to my OCD, I also had the plastic in front of the gauge cluster replaced due to light scratches that you see on all older vehicles. And yes, that \u201cD\u201d light was replaced too. The only item I decided not to replace was the front leather seats. They still have plenty of life, look good, and I wanted to keep this truck as original as possible. I should also note too that the 2nd and 3rd row leather is in excellent condition and looks just like the photos, if not even better. My wife commented, \u201cI guess the previous owners didn\u2019t have children.\u201d Oh yes, and I installed brand new BFG KO2 tires (hard to find 305/70/16), currently with 250 miles on them.\r\n\r\nIn regards to how the vehicle drives, I took it to David @ Quality First Imports (Wilmington, NC) \u2013 A Toyota mechanic specializing in Toyotas to do whatever he felt was needed. He replaced belts, gave it an oil change, as well as replaced the vehicle speed sensor which addressed a small leak under the truck. \r\n\r\nHours were spent on this vehicle along with other resources to make it what you see in the photos - and it was in excellent condition prior to me purchasing it. It\u2019s a sweet rig, one which gets a lot of compliments. It filled a need for me, keeping me busy for a period of time. I\u2019m now busy working in other areas and my daughter is getting her license soon, meaning that I need the room for her car. This gives someone the opportunity to own this truck \u2013 in my opinion, a very special, very unique, very rare (in it\u2019s condition) find. \r\n\r\nI will post additional photos, provide maintenance records and videos tomorrow and over the weekend. The transmission shifts smoothly though, and as you can see in the video, all lockers (front/center/rear) engage/disengage quickly. Regarding the spare tire, unfortunately you cannot fit a 305/70/16 under the truck. I think the truck looks a bit off without a tire under there and I left what was in place.
