My dad purchased the car around the year 2000, I believe out of Florida. I am not sure at what point the car was imported to the United States. He proceeded to have it completely restored at Buds Benz. I am not 100% sure, but I think it was originally a green car. I am not sure about the original interior (we do not have the original material). Dad enjoyed cruising the car and put a few miles on it over the years. However, it was always kept parked in climate control and was very well looked after. Over the years my dad eventually lost interest in the car and it has been in my possession for around 6 years. I have driven it much less, but made an effort to exercise the car often. These are not cars to let sit around. It is a very fun car to drive. Below is some info that you might find useful.\r\n\r\nPros:\r\n-It is an excellent cruising car. Fun to drive with great racing heritage.\r\n-Air conditioning works well.\r\n-Regular services over the years.\r\n-Very unique color combination.\r\n-Extremely rare classic Mercedes (no 500slc's were officially imported to the U.S. market).\r\n-It shows extremity well. The interior is in fantastic shape and the paint is well taken care of.\r\n-This is a no reserve auction.\r\n\r\nCons:\r\n-It has been driven since the restoration.\r\n-The driver door skin looks like a cat clawed it. I asked my Dad about that, years ago, but he did not have an answer. There is place in California that can reproduce the door skins for a few hundred bucks. I looked into it but never followed through.\r\n-Yes, I know the wheels are not original and \"I need to get some bundts to put on it\". I cannot tell you how many times I have been told this. Bundts can be had fairly cheap but these wheels and tires drive great, so I never felt the need to swap them out.\r\n-There are a couple small rust bubbles. I am not a body expert but they seem very localized and could be probably sorted out with out a full repaint.\r\n\r\n\r\nI am by no means an Mercedes expert, but will answer questions to the best of my ability. But the radiator support, grey market sticker and grey market A-pillar tab all match which pulls up on the most-known public database. The seller could check under the jack holder rubber cap to see if the build sheet strip is still there for another confirmation. Looking at the Bud Benz invoices, it looks to have received a pretty thorough but standard going through. Considering the car was 24 years old at that point and the seller's father wanted to enjoy it, the list is reasonable. I think I'd do much of the same. In fact, I have with a few of my SLs. I won't say a seller gets rewarded for all the work but it makes the car much more enjoyable to use. Some would interpret that as meaning the car has many more miles than displayed, which could be true, who knows, but its almost always better to look at SL/SLC as TMU and go solely on condition. Too bad the market rewards lower miles being shown on the odometer. Last, it has a little rust. All of that is pretty common. It could be addressed but I'd just let it go and enjoy it as is. Which is what I would advise for the car. It will never be one of the best 5.0 SLCs without a complete redo. Best to appreciate that it will be sold as a driver - and drive it. Though first get some 15\" or 16\" Bundts to get rid of the heinous 90s wheels.
