On its best days it looked exactly like this one, grey with light brown interior. Yes, Dunlop rear brakes good when they were good but when they were bad they were horrid. For those that have never experienced Dunlop rear disk brakes, each rear wheel had a wheel cylinder, yes like a drum brakes. Hydraulic pressure from the wheel cylinder operated a series of levers and rods that caused the pads to press on the rotors. The hand brake lever also operated the same levers and rods via a cable. \r\nTwo critical points of failure: \r\n1. the \"automatic\" adjustment was done via a ratcheting mechanism using an aluminum toothed drum. When the teeth wore off the drum...no rear brakes\r\n2. The rods and levers could be covered in ice if you drove in snow and slush in sub freezing weather... result: wooden brake pedal... no brakes at all. But who would drive an Alfa in the winter?
