It's totally appropriate that Rick Ehrenberg's famous (infamous?) Green Brick is referenced by folks and any student of that spoiler of super car dreams in the One Lap of America days can appreciate what we see here. One of the things about A-body Mopars that I think has kept me around them since the early 70's is that over their 17 year evolution the hard points in the unit body were remarkably consistent which allowed the whole range of drivetrain and suspension variations to interchange. While the factory marketed performance models and options strategically across the Dodge and Plymouth lines, creative hot rodders could build their own by picking through junkyards full of components. As I've harped on for years, the foundational chassis integrity of the A-body happens to be spot on with textbook geometry and a balance of light weight and strength. I always call out credit to Mopar engineer Scott Harvey and his team. It's no accident that he was a passionate performance enthusiast and racer as were many in the engineering staff of the time. Rick Ehrenberg of course deserves most of the credit for publicizing the engineering quality and particular the further potentials that can be realized with relatively simple and straightforward tuning. \r\n\r\nI've tried to remember and come up with having had six 67-69 Valiant 2dr sedans. As I said earlier, the Valiant no longer carried any performance variations in favor of the Barracuda (and longer wheelbase Dart). The biggest V8 was a 273 and there was no hardtop or convertible. There were still a few interesting options but rarely seen. One 69 S6 Signet I had was factory equipped with Rallye suspension. Another 69 V100 had a factory V8 (273) and Hurst shifted 4spd. That also meant an 8.75 rear. But that car had standard suspension, go figure. Govier told me it was one of 11 or 13 (vaguely recollecting) V8/4spds made that year. \r\n\r\nI'm not going to say much more here as the references have been made and I think we all understand how much can be done, whether you prefer a stoplight sprinter like this or a sport sedan. It's pretty cool that an anti-roll setup might be included. I'll say too that the 318 is a hot build and is essentially a hot rodded 340 with a few less cubes.
