It was repaired by one of the best rated body shops in the area and they removed all the area with the rocker rust, then fabricated and welded in a new piece of metal. Then paint matched and repainted the rocker. They also layered multiple coats of chemicals that will stop any potential rust spots to avoid spreading at all. It was repaired right and I definitely did not want to cheap out on this repair with fiberglass and such. That was the only body/rust repair performed on the entire car and the rest of the car definitely has no structural or significant rust anymore. Reflected by the mileage, this car has definitely been driven, and it\u2019s almost unavoidable to not have any surface rust present living in Virginia. I can assure you there\u2019s no significant rust issues to be worried about as I have addressed that, however surface rust is present that I couldn\u2019t do much about. Even if it hits 8k its a steal. I wish I was in a position to add another XJ to my line up, I have 6 currently and the 5 speeds are, as mentioned, getting harder and harder to find in decent condition let alone the condition this one is in. \r\n\r\nThe surface rust on the undercarriage shouldn't be a concern to anyone and is easily cleaned up and new undercoating sprayed if you wanted. \r\n\r\nOnly thing that would be a challenge due ti the surface rust would be lifting it or just replacing the rear leafs that commonly sag after 20+ years as these are. But fighting to remove a few rusted bolts would be a small price to pay to have an excellent, increasingly rare 5 sp XJ.\r\n\r\nXJ values in general have rocketed over the last 2-3 years. Not saying they will climb as high as the late 60s to mid 70s Broncos and Scouts did from around 1990 to 2000, but they are on the same trajectory right now. I bought my first Bronco, a running, driving, uncut, rust free 68 half cab back in 94 for 1200 bucks. You can buy a pile of rust with a Bronco emblem on it for 1200 now. It will take at min 15k to buy one running, driving.\r\n\r\nI'll quit rambling, lol. The bid has gone up 1500 in the time it took to write that, getting closer to what it's worth.
