As it turns out, this vehicle belonged to a BMW dealership manager, so it was stored at BMW Charlottesville in VA among the dealership\u2019s pre-owned inventory. After meeting with the Sales Manage (vehicle owner) on the dealership sales floor, I was aided by @bmwcca1, one of the Client Advisors, himself a decades-long BMW salesperson, enthusiast, and fellow 128i owner, who has owned more than 50 BMW\u2019s of the two and four wheeled variety. He installed my out of state license plates, walked me through the car\u2019s features, paired the Bluetooth to my device, and most importantly, shared some of the region\u2019s most scenic backroads. What an experience to purchase one of these analogue cars from the dealership floor all these years later. \r\n\r\nMy seller (ie. CarFax \u201cOwner 3\u201d) had access to plenty of company cars so only drove this one for six (6) miles before moving on \u2013 he was particularly tall \u2013 and favored roomier SUVs/SAVs to stretch out in. All upgrades were performed by local BMW specialist Wile Motorsport and are of the OEM or OEM+ bolt on variety, and can all be fully reverted to stock if so desired. That said, I'm not sure anyone would want less factory BMW M goodies in their chassis...\n\nWhile we've already talked about the Ohlins coilovers, to me, the big one was to drop the rear subframe to allow factory bushings from a contemporary M3/1M to be installed. This helped a great deal in dialing out the wayward rear end. Front and rear bushings were all refreshed throughout, again using direct fitment factory M3/1M front and rear control arms, along with fresh tie-rods. Stainless steel brake lines were added to improve brake pedal feel. If I had to guess, it may have something to do with repeated exposure and contact to a type of sunscreen or similar that the prior owner may have used, as it is only evident around those touch points. \r\n\r\nI don't use sunscreen personally, and between applications of Griot's products the cabin is otherwise exceptionally clean. Even the driver door armrest area in question is free of any residue, stickiness, flaking, or anything like that; just a bit of light discoloration.
