Before the comments roll, let's establish a few things. Nearly ALL 87 to 90 Trans Ams have a rear spoiler that needs replacing or has been replaced. The replacement is fiberglass. This one shows the issue. They are metal and then foam covered. Once water gets in, the foam expands and cracks. It is an easy fix with the fiberglass version. \r\n\r\nNext, again nearly ALL 86-92 Camaros and Firebirds with power antenna need replacing. The plastic stalk deteriorates and need replaced. There are two fixes, one is to disassemble and replace the stalk. The second is to find a new replacement. Again, other than removal and replacement, this is an easy fix. \r\neBay sells a Jeep antenna that is identical to the original firebird antennas.\r\n\r\nGood luck with the auction. Also that the hatch motor goes up and down properly. I can hear some issues with the window lift motors. Repair kits or refurbished motors are available to solve all these issues. On hardtop cars look for a crack where the b-pillar meets the roof. Obviously t-top cars such as this one don't have that issue. But the t-tops come with their own issues such as leaking. Another area to look at is where the steering gear box mounts to the subframe They can develop cracking there. Also be certain that the chin spoiler below the radiator support is present and not damaged. If the door is dragging on the door sil, this can be caused by worn hinge pins or the hinges can be bent from these long and very heavy doors. If checking the car in person open the door and lift the bottom of the while someone observes the hinges for movement. You can also feel the worn hinge pins. Also while you're at it observe the condition of the door detent roller and pin. Again kits exist to repair these issues. I do highly recommend the USA built hinge repair kits versus the far cheaper Made in China kits. If you have any questions about any of these issues reach out to me. It came this way. So, as far as I am concerned, and I am a purist in most instances, the TTA is pure. As far as comparison to a GN, I don't see much comparison. The GN, while having a similar engine, is just a black Buick. The TTA is a GTA. It handles better, performs better, is faster, and IMHO looks much better. The GNX is in a class by itself. I remember when I was in my mid-twenties and did well enough to be driving a new Ferrari 348ts, and while cruising it with a girl I was trying so hard to impress, when a dude with a mullet and a Grand National pulled next to me.....we ran, and he dusted me....the girl asked me \"...what's wrong with your car?....\" I felt like Pee Wee Herman, and got instant respect for that car. Now, I own a Grand National, and not a 348. \r\nRegarding the TTA.....It is faster, especially at speed, probably mostly due to the aerodynamics. I can drive at 140+ with one hand on the wheel in the TTA with a feeling of complete control and stability. The Buick gets weird over a hundred, probably because it is a brick with an old chassis and suspension, but getting to 100 is still a blast. There is no comparison in handling or braking either. The TTA beats it in all categories, except for perhaps the most important category.....nostalgia. I believe the TTA was just too rare for many to have experienced them either by driving them, or being blown away by them as I was, and this kind of nostalgia really drive the market prices of collectible cars.
