The 1967 C2 L79 has the one year only bolt on aluminum wheels and look a little different but overall are a similar style. My friend still has a NOS set of these Collector Edition wheels still in the box he bought from Chevrolet when new. When I bought the car, the needle would dance a little a lower speeds so I had it replaced. FHM Garage, a local repair shop that\u2019s works on older vehicles locally never moved the car while the cable was removed\r\n\r\nI had to replace the tires also because a belt broke in one of them. I should have kept them just as proof of low usage. They were date coded 2009 and honestly had virtually no wear on them. I replaced the entire set because they were Cooper Cobras. Its original functionality can be maintained by anybody willing to learn how it works, and its bad reputation mostly comes from ignorant people who don't understand it, but that doesn't mean it was a well-executed, good idea in the first place.\n\nThey took an intake manifold design suitable for a 7000rpm racing engine and stuck it on a street car with 2.87 rear gear and an overdrive transmission in the era of the 55mph federal speed limit, so it had to meet emissions requirements while lugging along at less than 1500rpm. This necessitated tapering the intake runners from rectangles into squares with 60% of their original cross-sectional area to increase port velocity to maintain fuel atomization, which then chokes the engine past 4000rpm. A die-grinder coupled with some other upgrades can turn it into a 6000rpm engine.\n\nBeyond the performance limitation, the control system is lacking. There is no intake air temperature sensor, so the ECM running this speed-density fuel injection system has no way to accurately calculate air density. Thus the air/fuel ratio varies with ambient temperature, so if you tune it at low ambient, it will run rich at high ambient or vice versa. Then there are the two idle air controls wired in parallel to a single signal, and if they don't respond identically, the idle speed jumps around, and sometimes it's a lot. The best solution here is a later Caprice Throttle Body Injection ECM, the addition of an intake air temperature sensor, and some plumbing to allow use of a single idle air control.\n\nThrough no fault of the Cross-Fire injection system itself, they sourced the vacuum for the headlight door actuators off the left rear corner of the manifold, directly above the number 6 & 8 intake runners, so when (not if) the headlight vacuum system leaks, those cylinders can run extremely lean.\n\nAnyway...
