I too have a 72 Fj55 with this exact same paint scheme and mine has the same dent in the drivers tail light area and its also missing the drivers rear reflector. I'm in Oregon and this one is in California... Long lost twin? The biggest difference is mine has very little rust. It's nice that someone upgraded to disc brakes and a dual reservoir booster & master. Unfortunately the engine is a turd and is only further let down by the transmission as well as they are extremely prone to rust. The underside looks surprisingly clean compared to what's on the body though! I do have a cherry stock front bumper I'm not using as well as some misc odds and ends I've hoarded. I also have a 4 speed out of a fj60 laying around that would bolt up nicely with a chevy v8 adapter housing laying in the shop if someone wanted to take the plunge. These engines get 11 mpg down hill with a tail wind... The one I just parted out had a driver's log that repeatedly got 7-9mpg. I love these things but the drivetrains are definitely meh. If this stays low I could see being a bidder. I drove a '69 as my sole transportation for 8 years. Ended up being given another 3 of them during that time. Kept one body that was pretty rust free and parted out the rest. Still have piles of FJ55 parts laying around in the rafters.\r\n\r\nDisc brake conversion is a necessity on these if you are going to drive them on the road much as the drums all around are really limited in their stopping abilities. Stock, these things cruise nicely at 55-60 tops. You can push them to 65 but sounds like the world is about to end at that point. They where never intended to be highway cruisers but for going anywhere. This looks to be a solid rig to work from for either a restoration or just POR15 the rust and enjoy it on dry days. When you put the headliner back in, you have to remove the glass and that means new rubber. The window rubber comes from one guy, who is out of stock on some pieces with no date for restocking. I had two Land Cruisers, an FJ-40 and an FJ-55. The 40 had three on the tree and I loved everything about it except the gear shifter. The 55 had 4 on the floor and an extra lever on the left of the tunnel in a perfect position to dig into your knee for the overdrive. The overdrive was bolted on behind the transfer case. It only drove the back wheels, so you should never engage it while in 4WD. There was no lock-out preventing engaging it, but I was pretty certain lots of bad things would happen if you tried. This was not a Fairey unit and it required a shorter rear drive shaft. Not to worry, no V-8. It did get a replacement carb by Carter, 6 into 1 headers, and an AC Delco distributer. Put a Warn 10,000lb winch up front. Lights. Giant steel wheels with Armstrong Tru-Trac Rhinos. (Find those today). And since a was sweeping rallies, I got an Australian \"Outback\" 53 gallon tank out back. Fit right between the frame rails. So all this extra weight required some suspension upgrades. Old school, had the leafs rebuilt at a spring shop in Patterson, NJ. New school, BIG Bilstein off road gas shocks. It actually rode nice on the highway and off-road. LOTS of miles across this country and Canada. Really wish I was in a position to bid on this.
