Photo of the invoice from the top replacement has been submitted to BaT to upload here.\n\n@Thatch: As you may already know, these are non-interference motors and a broken timing belt will not result in bent valves - though being stranded is terrible in its own right. The original/previous owner told me the timing belt was replaced, but the most I could find was evidence of cam seals and HLA work to the tune of $1,528 in 2001. Personally I believe the original owner at his word - but for those interested in bidding, I'd err on the safe side and suggest budgeting for a timing belt change in your bid. To be frank the airbag light only came up a couple times on two hot days, and was intermittent enough that I didn't think it was necessary to invest time into. The airbag light flashed 4 times in succession, and from what I gleaned from miata.net, the root cause is leaky electrolytic capacitors on the airbag module. If you are handy enough with a soldering iron, the faulty capacitors can be replaced with capacitors from Radio Shack, Digikey, or similar supplier. The original/previous owner did disclose this to me during the sale, and mentioned that he had it fixed before. A replacement module was installed in 2008 according to paperwork. I don't foresee suspension replacement on the near horizon, but in any case, clean NA's are well past the bottom of the depreciation curve and are well on their way up, so it's as good of a time as any to get in. Unmolested, unmodified, original paint examples are not getting any easier to find. Re: clutch, the current clutch has <40K, should have many more miles of life, and is showing me no indicators of wear or failure.
