This is not a general indication that the restoration is going to pot, in my opinion. The original restoration in the late 1980s was done by a keen and caring amateur, but the one in 2004 was done by somebody who won \"best of show\" for a 356 at the Banff Porsche Parade. He was not asked to do a 100 point car with this, only a ~95 point driver, but the point is that he is very competent. My guess is that in the body prep there was a hidden flaw from the original restoration that was not detected...paper thin steel perhaps. To make a long story short, my personal view is that the body is really top quality overall...but has these two flaws. A good body person could touch them up and you'd never know. I thought about doing this, but I thought being upfront and letting the new owner deal with it would be better in the long run.\r\nIncidentally, this is the original colour. The irregular dividing line between the black rustproofing and the yellow colour in the trunk is original. The side panels you see in the photos are black painted steel, and in excellent condition. You get a better idea from some of the underside images. Sorry if this was not clear in the description. I don\u2019t really know exactly what an original car looks like versus what work was done in this spot...these were done as part of the rocker panel reinforcement work done at the time of the 1980s restoration before we purchased the car. I don't have a photo with the battery out and I'm not next to the car to take one...you'd just have to trust me that it's absolutely not a problem.\r\nHave a look at the fourth last engine bay photo (number 125/200), looking straight down on the positive battery post.
