I personally am 6'10\" and i am able to squeeze myself in there and drive it around. How fast does it go? I have not taken it onto the highway but CIC told me that it's top speed is 53mph. How much does it weigh? When it was first shipped out in 89' it weighed 16,000 lbs with the bucket and backhoe, now it weighs around 10,000 lbs. How tall is it? The hydraulic system was pretty robust and the backhoe was pretty fast, almost too much so. The hydraulic tools were pretty neat items. There is no room in the cab, except for the driver and assistant, and previous posters are correct in that these are not know for possessing gymkhana suspension. They were pretty reliable in the units I was with. They were designed to support manuever forces in Europe in field locations and conditions, not drive to and from commercial worksites. \r\n\r\n\r\nThe mid 80's were heady times for the Engineers, as we saw big money spent on new bridging, the Armored Combat Eathmover, and various types of mine laying and clearing technologies. When the US Army brought out the Small Emplacement Excavator, it was a huge hit with the maneuver forces, especially with the grunts. Although it was only supposed to dig crew served positions (machine guns, motors, Dragons) the operators often squeezed a little time to scoop our a backhoe bucket or two for the riflemen's fighting positions. The ironic thing about the SEE's, is that they replaced a commercial JD410 hauled on an Eager Beaver trailer pulled by a 5T dump. In the old TO&E, they dropped a JD 410 at the job site, and then went off to haul barrier material with the 5T and flatbed. With the SEE, you sent two guys in it over the road to their assignments and they came back when they were finished.
