It ended up crashing into the rear corner of a Roll Royce limo. The kid hadn't set the parking break or left it in gear. The owner of the shop was great and the car was repaired, bumper grill and hood involved. When I finally picked it up, the shop owner said that the cost to repair the \"B\" was the good news. The bad news was the rear bumper on the Rolls (just the part) cost $12,000. Less is always more and, to my eye, the wonderfully clean lines that have made the B's original design so timelessly appealing for decades are complemented perfectly by the more understated impact of OEW, especially when trimmed out with the black/white leather. A more formal, luxurious sort of vibe that I always equated to driving a poor-man's Jag; a vibe that helped me believe I was the clever one sitting at the stoplight next to the XKE. I first saw the car at the British Car Showdown at the Mid Ohio Vintage Race weekend, where it was Best In Class, and a finalist for Best In Show. I asked the owner if he would sell at the show. At the time, he had just finished the restoration, and said the car was not for sale at any price. I gave him my number. A month later, he did call me, and said he was ready to sell. I told him I still wanted the car, and he put it in his trailer and dropped it off at my place. I received a few photos of the restoration, an Ohio title, and a beautiful car. I never thought to ask him for parts receipts! Neither have I ever regretted the purchase. \r\n\r\nAlthough I bought a beautiful MGB, and have won many Best In Class awards myself, there were details, primarily for originality, that I preferred to address. I do have receipts for many of the parts and services I have invested in the car, but most of these improvements are shown in the gallery photos. \r\n\r\nMost recently, I purchased five Pirelli Cinturato 165 radials from Longstone Tyres in the UK. These tires are manufactured by Pirelli as part of their historic tire program, and are a period correct profile. \r\n\r\nLast year, I removed the metal dash, stripped the old finish, and had a new, powder coated wrinkle finish professionally applied. The gallery photos clearly show a factory like wrinkle finish now. I'm the 2nd owner and di da full nut and bolt restoration on it with my sons with a focus on originality as well. Can say, this lovely White MGB is as nice as you will likely find. Going through the photos it is clear that the restorer and current owner are very concerned with originality. On all British restoration, one of the first things I look at are the fasteners. This car has all original, replated hardware on it, not replacement hardware like on 95% of restored British cars. That is an immediate tip off that whoever restored this car did it right and did not cut corners.\r\n\r\nDo not have the garage space more do I need a 2nd MGB. Whoever ends up with this car is in for a treat. Love my MGB, it always starts first try and is a joy to drive. Also have TR250's, E-type, Cooper S and other British toys around but the B is a different experience that is tough to explain. My MGB will be passed along to my youngest son --- that is the car he wants out of our collection - that says something right there about how special B's are when a 13 year old thinks it is the coolest car in a garage that includes exotics.\r\n\r\nHope this car sees the love it deserves as it would cost easily 3x current bid to recreate - if you could as finding properly date stamped NOS bits for anything is increasingly tough.
