One thing that could be causing your clunk in the truck is the rear axle CV joints are dry. Picture 211 shows the inner and outer CV boots are cracked from age. They were filled with oil from the factory so cracked boots let\u2019s the oil seep out until the ball bearings start to destroy the bearing cage. You can get underneath and grab the axle shaft in between the inner and outer axle boots. Shake up and down than axially. Do both sides. If there is any clunking they need pulled, taken apart, inspected for damage, greased, reassembled with new boots. Note: everyone services or rebuilds them with appropriate spec grease these days and not oil like the factory.\r\n\r\nIf they are damaged upon inspection you will have to buy new old stock which are expensive, find a shop that rebuilds OEM stuff and buy from them. My \u201882 300D (non-turbo) and \u201882 240D both have the same 80mph speedometer with the stylized white \u201c55\u201d as the listed car. My \u201883 240D has an 85mph speedometer with the yellow \u201c55\u201d. My \u201885 300CD (turbo) has a 120mph speedometer.
