I just ordered the repair parts from Randy Forbes, who was responsive, and very helpful. Note that I am replacing the exhaust with a stainless upgrade too as the existing exhaust does not fit once the differential mount is replaced. Owned 5 years and put 15k fun, spirited (s)miles on the M. As too few know, these cars are still underrated compared to similar sports cars. The coupes are amazing but not worth double these. Top down, S54 screaming (add an aftermarket exhaust if you're smart), coupes miss out on this huge element. The drama a convertible 2 seater gives you is hard to beat with the visceral experience top down driving permits.\n\nI always drove with DSC off, and let me tell you, this car isn't for the faint of heart. Three different occasions I managed to spin the rear end between 180 and 360 degrees. It's a driver's car and that's what I love about these. The looks are spectacular too and have aged tremendously well in my opinion. Had no engine problems and it was driven to redline regularly. Unfortunately, one cold night and summer tires ended our time together.\n\nI bought an 05 turbo Elise to replace the M. And while the Elise is faster, I'd say the BMW was more of an animal you have to wrestle with, while the Elise is like a ballerina. I think that says a lot about the character of the Z3M. Truly a hooligan car.\n\nGood luck seller. Love my Elise but I will always have a soft spot for the M. It's an amazing, old school (best school) BMW.\n\nSide note: this car is definitely one of the nicest looking/condition M's I've seen here. There have been other great ones, but this one is particularly well kept. And this color in person is beautiful. But if you drive your car enthusiastically consistent with it being an \"ultimate driving machine\", the car WILL sustain damage. BMW has for some time been marketing and designing its cars for the image conscious -- people who would never dream of accelerating briskly from a stop (the one thing that the M Roadster should do especially well given its power-to-weight ratio). Therefore, those who would like to occasionally take off from a stop would be well advised to professionally fix their cars first. It is like motorcycling - either you've crashed or you will crash in your future. It is inevitable that M Roadster's will need the bracing repair. BMW never thought they'd put the M3 motors in these cars. They obviously thought the 1.9 L 4 was going to be enough to take away Miata sales. But Porsche hot rodded the Boxster and it was HP game on. Though they should have learned their lesson from previous design flaws. BMWNA never acknowledged the design flaw and blamed customers for the problems. I've been there with the oval cylinders of the '75 2002, the center stand on their K100 motorcycles etc. Sometimes the German Engineering Pride gets in the way of fixing problems. I won't go into the various rod bearing problems.
