As this is pretty early (#679 in the body sequence) in the BN6 production the spare tire cover would have been vinyl instead of the current carpet cover fit in the later BN6's. For him that meant a car with out wood. So, the MGTD was sold and replaced with a 100/6 two seat. By the time my brother and sister came along to take the entire family the spare tire was pushed into the trunk and we would sit side by side facing backwards with our feet in the trunk. Fast forward until my early 20's and I needed a car. I purchased a primrose BT7 and kept it for the next 28 years. Sold it to make pay roll back in 2008 when the economy went a way. It is in Paris some where now. While I owned the car I re-painted it BRG as my best friends wife use to call my car an Austin wee wee, well, due to the faded yellow paint. Any way. I picked my wife up in this car for our first date. She asked what kind of car it was, I told her to which she replied, I have one of those. She had and still has a sprite, had never heard of the big Healey's. Any way we will have a talk tonight about how high I can bid. I sold my 100-4 here in December, 2019. I've also owned several BJ8s, so I've experienced the weakest and the strongest big Healeys but never the middle cars, like this lovely example. I suspect it is the sweet spot, approaching modern capabilities without losing the vintage charm of a non wood dash, side curtains etc. I, for one, love the color. I've owned a couple of Primrose E Types over the years and I think it works as well on this Healey, especially with the attention to detail such as the piping. There are some very small detail things that are not quite right on this car, but in the grand scheme of things they are inconsequential.... It might take 20 hours to bring this car to a \"gold\" standard in concours inspections... The average restoration of a big Healey through my shop is near $90K... Through others, you can add 30-50% to that. They only made 4000 BN6's. I'll bet less than half that are still around. \r\n\r\nIn case you are wondering... I have helped with the concours guide since 1989. I have also been a judge and a lead Judge at concours inspections... The factory 2 tone was with black coves (below the body crease). That was discontinued in Feb. 1960 as was Primrose.
