I read about the STI in motor trend magazine. They said they were going to be sold in the USA soon. I wanted the first one. I called the dealership six months before any were sold in the United States. They told me they weren\u2019t ever getting any and didn\u2019t know what I was talking about. Six months later, I gave them $1000 deposit. They told me it would be months before mine came in some dealerships were selling them at $5000 over sticker price because of demand. I didn\u2019t have to wait very long. Some other guy was on vacation when his STI came in so they sold his to me. I drove it to work every day for years. It was only a 5 mile drive one way. When my wife quit working, I started driving her car to work or my motorcycle and the STI started sitting around. I quit putting the snow tires on it for the winter and covered it up. I have the original downpipe. It wouldn\u2019t be hard to put it back on. The Cobb access port allows you to download different maps to the ECU. You can change it from stage one or stage two depending on the octane of gas and modifications you have. There is a valet mode where the car will not boost at all. There is a theft mode where the car will die when it reaches 35 miles an hour and won\u2019t restart.
