In the three plus years of ownership I have not seen one like it sold. I\u2019m sure they are out there but very rare.\r\n@lslbtr I know this topic gets people debating so that is not my intention. From my research it seems rod bearing issues and the recall were more directed at early models. Possibly cars with heavy modifications and track time along with lack of proper maintenance. Another issue is people not letting the cars oil temp warm up before driving it hard. BMW is the only car I know that try\u2019s to warn people with the tachometer lights. I\u2019m sure there are stories of perfectly maintained street cars with problems. \r\nThis car has not had rod bearings replaced.\r\nIt has not had any work done on the Vanos either. This is another hot topic. If a failure happens it is not without warning. The mechanics and myself that have worked on the car feel it is not necessary to do at this time.\r\nMy thoughts were to do the Vanos work when the 60k is done since the valve cover will be off. I am wiling to take the car to a local shop if a bidder would like to get an opinion of its condition.\r\nWhen this car goes to a shop it gets surrounded by techs. They love it!\r\n@sharmin21 The appeal for me in the E46 is the straight six engine. It brings back memories of my past BMW\u2019s. It just is so BMW. The smooth power delivery and the sounds are intoxicating. No other car has that same experience.
