When I was a kid in the late 1960s karting was an active sport mainly by the older neighborhood kids. Karts were open tubular frames with 4 slicks , a round dish steering wheel or bike steering turned upside down, a vinyl covered foam seat mounted on plywood and a most commonly a 5 hp Edger mower because of the crankcase pulley orientation. \n\nWhat made karting fun was competition. I haven't seen a go kart furtively sneaking around on the streets in decades. A 5 HP edger mower provided a 13 year old me with plenty of thrills due to the power and weight ratio. This one shines just like a nice new Red Porsche does, Its always cool to now days see the vintage toys that were made to represent all the top cars of back in the day, its all of these old toys that kept us now grown ups dreaming and hooked on cars from a young age! \r\n\r\nThe prior owner aquired this new in box car from an auction house that closed doors in 1990. The car already held a value at that time to be considered worth keeping in the box and sold off to a collector! The auction house shipping label is in the photos, they were a top Auction House in the 1980\u2019s but began to loose money and unfortinately had to shut down in 1990.\r\n\r\n@xtype there isnt much information on the National Junior Sportster, but they had a really good run during the 1970\u2019s and 1980\u2019s producing both battery and pedal powered, Volkswagen Beetles, Mercedes, and BMW cars and of course this Porsche Model. I Suspect Prestige may have taken over or copied later in the 80\u2019s and 90\u2019s and of course gave some nice updates.
