He was born Dec. 19, 1914, in Chickasaw, a son of the late John and Rosalia (Caliari) Parisi. His parents entered the United States in the early 1900's, coming from Tyrol, Austria. Mr. Parisi was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps (3 C's) in his early adult years, serving in Kentucky. His unit was responsible for building a battleground in remembrance of the Veterans of the Civil War at Columbus Belmont State Park. After the 3 C's, he worked for the G.F. Howard Construction Co. in Youngstown for eight years. When World War II began, Mr. Parisi was one of the many volunteers for our country, but was retained to work in the U.S. by his then-employer, J.D. Fowler Co., and worked in the steel mills for the war effort at home. In 1947, Mr. Parisi co-founded United Excavating Co. Inc. The company was well-known in the Youngstown area, not only for their extensive work, but for their community efforts in sponsoring many Little League football teams. In 1981, he founded the Parisi Excavating Corp. of Boardman along with his sons, Gregory Alan Parisi and Darryl Geno Parisi; and his daughter, Cheryl Gay Winger. Mr. Parisi had been an active member of both Evergreen Presbyterian Church and John Knox United Presbyterian Church. He was one of the founding members of John Knox and also served as a member of session, trustee, usher and treasurer of the Benevolence Fund and had helped out with many church projects over the years. He was a mason with St. Alban's Lodge #677 and earned his 32nd degree with the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Al Koran Shrine Club. He was a former member of Boardman Rotary and was always lending a hand. He volunteered his time and talent with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, including doing work at Camp Stambaugh. Both Mr. Parisi and his wife, Alyce, were lauded for their years of work with the PTA at Robinwood Lane Elementary, of which they were founding members. Mr. Parisi was well-known for his kindness and warm smile, but especially for his interest and love of antique and classic cars. A self-described \"Old Car Nut,\" he was a member of the Antique Automobile club of America, meander chapter and the local and national Model T Club. In 2017 the car did place 1st in the Classic Car Club of America Grand Classic held within the San Marino Motor Classic with the maximum of 93 points allowed, this class is for cars that were top notch but have worn with use from being driven, the car has only been made nicer since then. This car shows no sign of any rust ever, the wood shows no sign of ever being rotted or repaired, this is a truly solid and honest car. The Clock, Wipers, and speedometer are not working, my fat hands have been unable to remove them to have them repaired.I installed the aftermarket water temp gauge because although it is and was in working order the water temp gauge in the dash reads about 12 degrees more then the actual temp. When I purchased the car it had the radio head controls but no radio or speaker, I purchased and installed a radio and speaker but never hooked them up. I encourage you to come see the car in person, or send someone to inspect it. He saw a LaSalle but ended up buying the Packard. He later went back and bought the LaSalle. He restored the LaSalle which is still in the family. I spent many years riding in parades in Boardman & around town in the rumble seat. The Packard he spent decades chasing parts (pre internet) and restoring it slowly. I\u2019d invite my friends over and poppop would have us hold this headlight to feel the weight or look how beautiful the hood ornament was! Slowly it came together and turned out beautiful.
