It was given to me by my next door neighbor when I was 14. He owned an auto parts store, and it came with three boxes of every replacement part imaginable. I later met and became friends with the designer of the 262 engine - he was living in Liberty MO at that point, and was working at the Ford Plant. I drove it all through High school - did all the work on it, and learned a lot about cars. The Hudson had a step down interior, which lowered the center of gravity and made them very successful in Stock car racing. If you notice the radio antenna above the windshield\u2026 It could be lowered via a knob inside between the sunvisors. The cars are 6volt - positive ground. I had to install a second 12v battery in the trunk to run my 8 track tape player. The clutch is cork, and runs in oil. Mine had an electric over-drive in it - drops the RPM by 1000 on the highway - but the car will roll off if you leave it engaged when parked. All the sheet metal in the car was 18 gage or so\u2026 very strong and heavy. My neighbor backed into a fender with her Chevy\u2026 scratched my paint, destroyed her fender.
