If you attended the 2024 Concours d'LeMons in Monterey, we took worst in class with it. 49 years a block and a half from the beach has given it a challenged exterior finish.\r\n\r\nThe new caretaker will enjoy every kilometer they put on this car. They handle better that the open top version, and are starting to get the recognition they deserve. It's also possible that the Italian Targhe d'Immatricolazione dated back to 1974 and that was mistakenly translated as the model year. Your guess is as good as mine.\r\n\r\nSince all model years 1975 and older are smog exempt in California, this wasn't issue enough to have it corrected. Amazing shape for a car vulnerable to iron worms. I had a black 1970 124 S bought from Loeber Motors in Chicago. Great space inside, handled great, smooth shifting transmission. Mine needed a new engine in 3 months as the oil passages were blocked by apparent worker sabotage during strike action. Dealer provided new engine no problem. Was a great car to learn about TSD rallys in Canada, but it rusted quickly and became trade in for my 74 Alfa GTV. Still have great memories of the runs up to Wisconsin skiing weekends in it.
