It looks as if that one has been on that truck for decades. Lest someone try to restore it and ruin it, as a cabinet maker and furniture maker, I would try to add some life to it by oiling all of the exposed wood with a product containing Boiled Linseed Oil. BOL is designed to dry eventually. But it will soak into the dry wood cells and make it stronger, and brighter. Personally, I would use something simple like Watco Natural Danish Oil. Do not use exterior as it has an orange pigment added. Interior will still last a couple years by itself. I would plan on putting it on every year or so using a paint brush attempting to saturate the wood. I wouldnt bother doing the drawers as they dont appear to be original to the box, and they're already protected indoors. But doing the exterior will make it last longer and dress the vehicle up. Putting it on the panels with the painting on them would have the effect of darkening the colors, appearing somewhat wet, but in so doing it would also put the brakes on aging. Per my friend in the local Model T club the parking brake is applied by hand lever. The shoes are bare metal pressing outwards against the little bare metal drums. The regular service brake, operated by the brake pedal, squeezes a band around a drum in the transmission (external contracting). This makes the driveshaft slow down which makes the differential slow down which makes the axles slow down which make the wheels slow down. Eventually, and not quickly. And if you break a pinion gear you don\u2019t have even that one brake. \r\nAll is not lost because you can fit \u201cRocky Mountain Brakes\u201d which are actual drum brakes with lined brake shoes. The transmission band brake is pretty poor, but at the speeds they drove in the day, it didn't much matter. You need to learn to use the compression of the engine to slow the vehicle down.
