I've had a couple of PM's about various things, and figure it is best to share the responses here for all to see.\r\n\r\nFirst, the axle: I am not aware of the axle having been changed out, but cannot say for sure. Helper springs were added at some point in the past, I suspect right after it was delivered to the Washington State Parks Dept., and I suspect the back bumper was added then as well.\r\n\r\nPaint/primer: the only paint I've added is to the bed strips (color matched as best as possible using the original paint code), black rustoleum (to the bed supports, when I replaced the bed wood), to the forward cab braces (after they were welded in by NW AutoFab), and of course the clear coat, which I applied myself in the aircraft hangar Gus lives in when he is not being driven. I did this paint application myself. I did check with the paint store as I promised in my last listing, and they did not have a record of the exact clear coat I purchased as it is a stock item (their record shows the \"Holly Green\" custom quart I had them mix, and \"PPG clear coat\"). The previous owner did apply some brown primer on the edges of the hood, and like others here have expressed, I too wish that had not been done. But that ship has sailed.\r\n\r\nAll lights work properly, and all have conventional incandescent bulbs (no LED replacements). The horn works, the interior lights work (new headliner, new dome light bezel and gasket (these were missing when I bought it), new drivers side visor (none on the pass side). All of the gauges and warning lights work as designed (\"all\" is pretty funny!)\r\n\r\nThe heater and blower work, the heater hoses are new, the core is old but solid - no leaks. The only thing that does not work (but it tries!) is the windshield wipers. I do think the old vacuum actuator just has a leak, but I have not disassembled it to check it out. Replacements are readily available, or this could be changed over to electric. I did put new springs in the original wiper arms (yahoo for good local hardqare stores like ours, Robnett\u2019s Hardware) and added new wiper blades.\r\n\r\nThe old Pioneer SuperTuner does work well! The cassette deck I have not tried, so I cannot vouch for it.\r\n\r\nE-brake works perfectly. I have not used it in an emergency :) but I do use it when parking the truck. Cable is old but solid, no fraying.\r\n\r\nThe bench seat cover was made to order for me, with a Scottish Plaid I selected myself and gray vinyl that best matches the original, in the original stitching pattern for the standard cab (non-Custom-Cab). All padding was replaced, as was the burlap. All was hog-ringed as per the original covering method. I cleaned and repainted the seat springs, and retied them where necessary using aircraft safety wire. I saved the old (totally worn-out) seat cover because I am nostalgic.\r\n\r\nThe tires are older but in solid condition with decent tread - they can be used safely and comfortably until the owner elects to go with something more fitting for the truck - I think Gus needs skinnier, taller bias-ply blackwalls, like he had from the factory.\r\n\r\nI rebuilt the original carb myself, and could not get the truck to idle well with it, so I tried again - and got the same result. It could be professionally rebuilt and could go back into service (I suspect), but I took the shorter path and just bought a replacement. The original carb goes with the truck.\r\n\r\nThis old Ford cruises comfortably in third gear at about 55, 60 in a pinch. Beyond that he is winding pretty high. I best like driving Gus at 45-50 with the windows down and the floor vents open. It is like going back in time, especially on a country road during harvest time around here.\r\n\r\nOne day left!
